Paris Marathon training: Week 9

Sandwiched between Christmas and New Year, this week should have been packed with potential for cramming in long runs. However, braving a developing illness to run the Boxing Day race had taken its toll.
So, I took some time out to try to recover before stepping up my distance and speed training as the marathon gets closer. As such, there’s not a great deal of any substance to report.
Today (Saturday) I had my first run, making this a break of a week. I took it slow, went a moderate distance, but felt better for it. The next few runs should help support my recovery without pushing it too hard.
On the plus side, a New Year walk on the frozen Shotover Hill reminded me of a very different training ground on my doorstep. Once I’m back to health, I’ll need to take my new trail shoes out for a spin.
